Cake Beauty was acquired by MAV Beauty Brands Inc. of Vaughan in 2018, and the brand site still labels itself a MAV Beauty brand. MAV Beauty Brands entered CCAA protection on 2023-11-14 per the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy register, and Nexus Capital Management LP of Los Angeles now lists MAV Beauty as an active portfolio company; a 2026 Laird Superfood 10-K shows two Nexus partners on the MAV Beauty board, and The CANADA List reports the 2023 sale. The court's sale approval order and the monitor's page could not be fetched, and Corporations Canada returned no federal record for Cake Beauty Inc. or MAV Beauty Brands Inc., so both appear to be Ontario corporations that could not be checked in the Ontario Business Registry today.

The brand says every product is conceptualized, tested and designed at its head office in Toronto, its terms name Cake Beauty Inc. at 190 Pippin Road in Concord, a Vaughan address, and the OSB register puts the parent's head office in Vaughan. The parent also runs US operations for its US brands and reports to a Los Angeles owner, so the small US share is an estimate.
