A February 2015 Journal de Montréal article reports founder Louis Grenier sold control of Kanuk to Corporation financière Champlain, a Montreal private investment fund, with Richard Laniel installed as general manager; French Wikipedia corroborates the same handover. Corporations Canada shows the Kanuk trademark held by 9167200 Canada Inc., incorporated the same month, whose last individuals-with-significant-control filing (2025-08-20) named Alen Brandman and Jacques Bohbot, both listed at a Montreal address, holding the shares indirectly; that company dissolved itself on 2026-02-28 and no successor entity was found in the registry, so current control cannot be confirmed with certainty. Every ownership link on record, from the 2015 buyer through the 2024 filing, is Canadian and Montreal-based.

The vendor's own service page places its workshop at 485 Rachel Street East in Montreal, the same address where it has sewn coats since 1974 according to its FAQ. The 2015 Journal de Montréal article on the ownership sale describes Kanuk as a company that designs and manufactures its coats in Quebec, and madeinca.ca states every jacket is still made in the Montreal workshop rather than through a manufacturing partner. No product page states a country of origin, but no source suggested production has moved.

Kanuk's only disclosed sites are its Rachel Street workshop and store in Montreal and a second store in Quebec City; the 2015 press coverage of the ownership sale put headcount at about a hundred employees, all in Quebec. Corporations Canada's registered office for the current holding entity was also a Montreal address before its dissolution, consistent with a Quebec-based workforce.

The vendor states its down is Canadian Hutterite white duck down, certified under the Responsible Down Standard, so the down fill is Canadian. Some product lines instead use PrimaLoft, a US-branded synthetic insulation, or Thindown, an Italian-made insulating fabric, and the vendor does not say where its outer shell fabrics or hardware are sourced, so the remainder of the split, including a share for the offshore textile mills common in this industry, is an estimate.
