Kicking Horse Coffee

Kicking Horse's own supply chain report, filed under Canada's Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act for the year ended December 31, 2025 and signed by its CEO in May 2026, states the company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lavazza, an Italian coffee roaster owned by the Lavazza family and headquartered in Turin. Lavazza first bought an 80 percent stake from private equity firm Swander Pace Capital in May 2017, with co-founder Elana Rosenfeld retaining the remaining 20 percent. The date and terms of the move from 80 percent to full ownership could not be found in press coverage, only the filing's current-state statement.

The same supply chain filing states the finished product is manufactured at Kicking Horse's production facility in Invermere, BC, with decaf beans processed nearby in Vancouver by the Swiss Water Process, and the vendor markets its bags as roasted in Canada. Nothing in the current lineup is roasted or packed outside BC.

Kicking Horse's supply chain filing states it has 146 employees, all based in various locations throughout Canada, and its LinkedIn listing shows the same Invermere, BC head office with 51 to 200 staff. The careers page describes some staff working away from the Invermere headquarters, but the filing confirms that distribution stays inside Canada.

Green coffee, the primary input, cannot be grown in Canada. Kicking Horse's supply chain filing names Fairtrade and organic cooperatives in Colombia, Honduras, Nicaragua, Peru, Uganda, East Timor, and Sumatra as its bean sources, which puts nearly all of the input mix in OTHER. The same filing puts other raw materials, such as cardboard, packaging rollstock, coffee valves, and machinery, as coming mainly from Canada, the EU, and the United States, so each keeps a small share.
