Kotn's terms of service name Kotn Inc., governed by Ontario law, as the Canadian contracting entity, and its careers page identifies KOTN Inc. as the employer; Wikipedia, B Lab, and the CANADA List all record a Toronto-headquartered, Canadian-owned company founded in 2015 by three co-founders who still run it. Corporations Canada returned zero results, so this is a provincial corporation; the Ontario Business Registry was behind a bot check and could not be read, and no press reachable today reports an outside investor or acquirer, so any minority venture stake is unverified.

Kotn's help page says products are primarily manufactured in Egypt, Portugal, and Turkey, and its partners page lists a yarn mill, a weaving and finishing facility, a knitting mill and dyehouse, a jersey cut-and-sew shop, and a sock factory in Egypt against a french terry and fleece facility in Barcelos and a woven, knit, and soft tailoring group in Porto. The CEO told Retail Insider in 2022 that the vast majority of product is made in Egypt, so the 0.7 to 0.3 split between Egypt plus Turkey and Portugal is an estimate by product line, not a published number. The CANADA List's note of some Canadian production is not supported by anything on the vendor's own site.

Head office is at 379 Adelaide St W in Toronto and every corporate opening on the careers page is a Toronto role, but the partners page says half of the HQ team resides in Egypt, where the sourcing and production staff sit. Retail staff are spread over eight Canadian stores in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver and three US stores in New York, Brooklyn, and Los Angeles; the London Shoreditch store is listed as closed. No headcount is published, so the split is an estimate from the store count and the half-in-Egypt statement.

The namesake fibre is long-staple Egyptian cotton bought directly from 5,127 smallholder farms in the Nile Delta and Faiyum and spun in Alexandria, and the linen bedding is also milled in Egypt. ECOTEC recycled cotton yarn for the fine knit line is made in Portugal, and other GOTS, RWS, and GRS fibres come through certified organizations of unstated origin; the small Canadian share is the Shopify platform the store runs on. The split is an estimate weighted to Egyptian cotton as the dominant material.
