TriWest Capital Partners, a Calgary, Alberta private equity firm founded in 1998, announced on May 1, 2026 that it had acquired Ocean Brands in partnership with the existing management team as the third platform investment in its Fund VI. No BC or federal registry filing showing the change of control could be reached this session, so this rests on TriWest's own announcement and site rather than a filing.

Tuna is roughly 26 of the 30 Ocean's SKUs listed on the site and is caught by purse seine, pole and line, and longline in the Pacific and Indian Oceans; Ocean Brands' Bill S-211 report says it relies on "overseas processing facilities and distant-water fishing vessels" for seafood, and does not own any seafood cannery. The remaining shellfish and salmon SKUs are also wild caught outside Canada (Indian/Pacific Ocean shellfish, Alaska salmon). Ocean Brands' only listed address is its Richmond, BC head office, and its sole owned manufacturing asset (the Nonna Pia's plant) is also in Whistler, BC; no other office or facility was found. LinkedIn lists it as a 51-200 person company headquartered at the same Richmond address.

Ocean's FAQ states its salmon is wild caught off the coast of Alaska and that its other products are sourced from North America and Asia; product pages confirm tuna is caught in the Pacific and Indian Oceans and shellfish in the Indian and Western Central Pacific. Salmon is the only material that is US-sourced by this evidence; no Canadian-caught fish were found on the site despite checking every product page, so the mix is weighted toward tuna, the dominant SKU count.
