Voortman Cookies Limited was founded in 1951 by William and Harry Voortman. Hostess Brands' SEC 8-K press release confirms it acquired Voortman from Swander Pace Capital in a deal closing January 2020, and J.M. Smucker's own SEC 10-Q states Smucker (which acquired Hostess on 2023-11-07) sold the Voortman business to Second Nature Brands on December 2, 2024. CapVest Partners LLP's own press release identifies Second Nature Brands as a portfolio company of funds it manages and gives Second Nature's HQ as Madison Heights, Michigan; CapVest itself is headquartered in London (100 Pall Mall). No documented minority stake is disclosed, so the mix follows the controlling sponsor's country.

Voortman's own FAQ page states every cookie is made at its Burlington, Ontario bakery, and the CapVest press release describing the 2024 sale independently names the same leased Burlington, Ontario facility as the sole manufacturing site transferred with the brand.

CapVest's press release states approximately 300 employees, essentially the whole Voortman-dedicated workforce, transitioned with the Burlington plant in the 2024 sale. Brand oversight now sits with Second Nature Brands' Michigan headquarters; the size of that US-side team serving Voortman specifically is not disclosed, so the small US share is an estimate.
